From a simple driveway extension to a complete replacement, we can do it all!
Driveway Replacements:
In the DFW area homes that were built before the year 2000 have driveways that are starting to show extreme signs of cracking and sinking.
Many of these driveway were constructed without rebar allowing for the driveway to separate and cause large gaps between broken sections.
These major separations are considered to be structural damage and replacement is the only permanent fix.
Above you can see a gallery of a driveway that was replaced.
We demolished and disposed of the existing concrete before forming and installing the crushed concrete sub-base and compacting it.
After the sub-base was installed and compacted, #3 rebar (3/8 inch diameter) at 16 inches on center was set up on chairs to hold the rebar in place while the concrete gets poured.
Ideally the rebar should be about 2 inches from the edge of the concrete.
Driveway Extensions:
There are many reasons to extend your driveway from additional parking, to reduce the amount of landscaping that’s needed, and to minimize the amount of mud in the yard.
Above you can see a gallery of a driveway that had the approach (driveway entrance) extended with a broom finish and the residential driveway was extended with an exposed aggregate finish to resemble the concrete that was already there.
Driveway with Culvert Extension
We are well prepared to extend any driveway even if a culvert extension is needed.
An important reinforcement for a driveway that is built over a ditch and culvert is a turn down beam.
A turndown beam along the edge of the driveway will minimize erosion from under the driveway.
We have several diameters available in both Metal and Pre-Cast Concrete.
Custom pour and place safety ends are available.
We are bonded, insured, and registered with most cities in the DFW to pull permits.
Specifications
Each city has small variations in the specs that they require for their flatwork and some require a permit for any project while others only require a permit when modifying public property.
We strive to meet and exceed all regulations set forth by City Codes and will always acquire any necessary permits.
In most cases we use the following:
- 4 inch thick concrete
- 6 inches thick is recommended for heavier commercial vehicles.
- Compressive strength of 3500psi
- We can accommodate any psi requirements.
- #3 rebar (3/8th inch diameter) at 16 inches on center
- #4 rebar is often used for driveway approaches.
- 2 inch crushed concrete sub base
- Minimize stresses from expansion and contraction.

Concrete is not one spec fits all, the specs can greatly vary based on application. For example a standard driveway is usually about 4-inches thick but the driveway approach should be about 6-inches thick and will often require #4 rebar (1/2 inch diameter).
We have the experience and knowledge necessary to know when and where to use the appropriate concrete specs, but if you have your preferred specs then “the customer is always right!”
Stamped Concrete Driveways
Stamped concrete is a luxurious concrete finish that can mimic materials like brick, flagstone, and wood.
Our stamped concrete uses the same strong concrete mix we use for all our applications with rebar and corresponding thickness.
We use a commercial grade semi-gloss concrete sealer that lasts anywhere from 2-5 years depending on application and environment.
